Subaru XV Service

Subaru XV

We all know that we should have our cars regularly serviced, but do we really know why? The main reason for regular service intervals is to keep the car in the best running order possible in order to keep you and your family safe. At Subaru, we are all about safety and that’s why we advocate for regular Subaru XV service milestones.

We take a look at why you should maintain and service your Subaru XV through a Subaru dealer or approved repair network dealer. Let’s understand what gets done during a service and why it’s so important.

How often should I service my Subaru XV?

When it comes to the Subaru XV service schedule, we recommend servicing your Subaru XV through your local Subaru dealer or one of our approved repair network dealers every 15 000km or once a year (whichever comes first). We offer a 3 year/75 000lm maintenance plan which means that the first five services of the XV (or the first three years’ worth of services, whichever comes first) will be covered in full.

Understanding Subaru XV Service

What gets changed during a regular full service?

There are a number of things that will be regularly checked and changed during a routine 15 000km service on your Subaru XV. Of course, these don’t include major service intervals where certain major parts are checked and often replaced. During a routine service interval, Subaru or one of our approved repair network dealers will:

  • Check and change engine oil and engine oil filters
  • Check and change transmission fluid for automatic cars
  • Check and change spark plugs
  • Adjust and check drive belt tension
  • Check and change power steering fluid
  • Check wear and tear on brake pads. Replace if need be.
  • Check and change fuel filter
  • Check wear and tear on tyres and tread
  • Top up windscreen wiper fluid and do a manual check of all working parts like the windscreen, windscreen wipers, battery, exhaust, and coolant levels.
  • Check and adjust handbrake tension

Looking at this extensive list, it’s easy to see why a regular service interval is so important. Many elements of your car’s functionality get checked and changed. Leaving your car to go without regular servicing could lead to damaged parts, inhibiting the ability of your car to work well and without damage.
