Rarely before has a single car inspired the zeitgeist of a generation as much as the Impreza, with countless appearances in video games and popular culture cementing its legend.
The car you see below is not the bare-knuckled STI, but instead a slightly milder WRX that’s shorn of the STI moniker. Still, short of a few of the STI’s go-fast bits, the default Subaru giant-killing essentials are all there. A turbocharged two-litre flat-four powers all four wheels symmetrically, and is complimented by form-hugging race-style seats, a body kit and of course, pedigree by the bucketful.
Subaru has long stopped participating in the WRC, but what cannot be denied is that few cars can be classified as defining moments for a car manufacturer; and the Impreza WRX is an embodiment of the tales of lore from its rallying days.
