Designed with economy in mind

All Subaru Forester models feature the latest in Boxer® engine design, geared to provide the trusty performance and invigorating drive Forester owners have come to love, while allowing for substantial improvements in fuel economy. Start-stop fuel-saving technology also features across the range (excluding Forester XT).

Multi-mode trip computer

The multi-mode, full-colour trip computer in the Forester allows you to keep an eye on your vehicle - from fuel economy and audio information, to the rear view camera and even a real-time drivetrain information display system. Standard in all models.

Safety comes first

As with all Subaru vehicles, the Forester features class-leading safety credentials, including Subaru’s Ring-Shaped Reinforcement™ and seven airbags. The Subaru Forester also holds numerous safety accolades, proving to be one of the safest vehicles on the road.

Powered tail gate

Standard fitment to all models from the XS Premium upwards, the powered tailgate with an adjustable height setting means loading or unpacking the Subaru Forester is exceptionally easy.

Evolutionary design

The new Forester’s award-winning design is an evolution of Subaru DNA, where a rugged and cheeky exterior embodies the Forester’s go-anywhere attitude. Enhanced aerodynamics contribute to improved fuel economy while 220 mm ground clearance and the standard roof rails enhance its SUV appeal even further.

Hands always on the wheel

Standard on all models, the multi-function steering wheel which features audio, voice-recognition control, Bluetooth hands free and cruise control buttons, means both hands can remain on the wheel at all times.

Uniquely adventurous wheels

Giving the Subaru Forester a distinct look, stylishly adventurous wheels are available across the range in either 17- or 18-inch guise. All models also carry a full-size spare wheel.

  • Harmon Kardon speakers with touch infotainment system

The Subaru Forester’s fully-integrated touchscreen entertainment system features voice recognition, Bluetooth compatibility, USB and aux ports and a front-loading CD player. The 8 speaker Harmon Kardon / 6-speaker audio system means you can enjoy your favourite music, no matter the source.

  • Built to carry

Designed to cater for the needs of the whole family, the Subaru Forester features a capacious boot with a low loading sill to make loading and unloading easy. Fold the rear seats down flat when you need to carry extra-large items.

  • Auto headlamps and rain sensors

Featured on all models from XS Premium upwards, automatic light-sending headlights and rain-sensing wipers means the Subaru Forester takes care of the small things for you.

  • Double volume sunroof

XS Premium models and upwards feature a double volume tilting and sliding sunroof for that added dash of sunlight in the cabin or the opportune moment in the game reserve. A full sun shade is available at the touch of a button for those extra-hot South African days as well.

  • Keyless entry and push-button starting

Standard on all Subaru Forester models from XS upwards, full keyless access with push-button starting means operating your Forester is that much simpler. Enter by simply grabbing the door handle and lock with the slightest touch of your finger – while your keys stay safe on your person.

  • Headlamp washers

When the going gets muddy, headlamp washers on all model from XS upwards allow you to maintain clean headlamp lenses for the brightest possible forward lighting.

  • Cruise control

Standard across the range, cruise control makes any long-distance journey an absolute breeze.

  • Dual-zone climate control

In all models from XS upwards, dual-zone climate control brings individualised air conditioning settings to the Subaru Forester. You choose the temperature and your Forester will maintain it for you.

Safety

Dedicated to safety

As with all Subaru vehicles, the Subaru Forester subscribes to the brand’s unrelenting pursuit of ultimate vehicle safety. Featuring five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP, the Forester also received the IIHS’s coveted Top Safety Pick Plus award, placing it at the very top of the list of the world’s safest vehicles. Subaru is also the only manufacturer in the world whose entire vehicle range has been awarded this top accolade from the IIHS.

We certainly can’t think of a compact SUV that offers more at a better price.

Safety equipment in every direction

From bumper to bumper, the Subaru Forester is loaded with safety equipment. The body has been designed around Subaru’s Ring-Shaped Reinforcement™ principle, a design which allows all other safety systems to provide ultimate passenger protection, including seven airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors and three-point seat belts for all five seats.

Reversing camera

Reduce the risk of vehicle damage and pedestrian impact when reversing thanks to a full-colour reversing camera fitted as standard to all Forester models, complete with guide lines.

Electronic safety aids

With the likes of ABS with EBD and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), the Subaru Forester is always on high alert to keep you on the road – be it tarmac or dirt.

Designed to reduce impact

When an accident is inevitable, the Subaru Forester’s collapsible drivetrain has been designed to drop down beneath the vehicle, minimising its potential impact with- and intrusion into the cabin.

Crash-absorbing structure

Like the drivetrain, the Subaru Forester’s structure is also designed to take as much of the impact away from occupants as possible. Crumple zones and strategic chassis reinforcement aid in reducing impact forces.

Technology

“The Subaru Forester is a great piece of kit that should be considered if you’re in the market for a light SUV”

A Subaru hallmark, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive™ realises a completely symmetrical drivetrain, with power being split equally between the front and rear axles, as well as the left and right sides of the car. Managed electronically, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive™ is also able to determine exactly how much power each individual wheel receives, ensuring that the wheels with the most grip receive the power. On the road, this means ultimate handling prowess and confidence and when the going gets rough, precise power distribution makes obstacle-climbing and dirt road handling an impeccably easy and safe affair.

Boxer® engine design

Unique to the Subaru brand, every Subaru vehicle is powered by a Boxer® engine. Nicknamed so due to the punching action of its horizontally-opposed pistons, Boxer® engine design results not only in superior power delivery and the typical Subaru thrum in the exhaust note, but also a smooth, balanced drive, playing perfectly into the hands of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive™. Because they are flat, Boxer® engines can also be mounted lower-down in the engine bay, reducing the vehicle’s centre of gravity and thereby vastly improving road holding.

Lineartronic™ CVT

Subaru’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) allows for the easy-going nature of an automatic gearbox without the sensation of gear changes. Thanks to its pulley-based design, Lineartronic™ offers a completely seamless drive for ultimate comfort and ease of use, complete with sporty manual-shift paddles for when the mood takes you.

SI-DRIVE™

Fitted to Forester models from XS upwards, Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) provides you with different driving modes to suit your mood and conditions. Save fuel in Intelligent mode or sharpen up response in Sport# - you choose.

X Mode with hill descent function

Fitted to all Lineartronic™ Forester variants, X Mode makes its debut as an off-road driving enhancement tool. Now, negotiating even the steepest slops is easy, with X Mode allowing you the Forester to automatically descend at a set pace, with driver intervention allowing you to speed up or slow down with confidence and in safety.
