In keeping with the dynamic nature of the WRX and WRX STI, the interior is decidedly sporting – yet unmistakably elegant. Leather abounds throughout the cabin – from the full leather Recaro bucket seats (WRX STI only) to the leather gearshift and the thick-rimmed steering wheel with trademark red stitching for the leather. The steering wheel has satellite controls for the sound system while the car boasts Bluetooth communication, a USB slot and an auxiliary/iPod jack.

The car’s sporting heart is emphasised by the aluminium pedals and dark metallic dashboard and door panels.

Speaking of the dashboard, it is characterised by the trademark “sweeping” gauges, much admired by Subaru drivers and those who long to own a Subaru – one day. The driver is also privy to a host of other data, such as differential settings, the SI-Drive position, gear selection, instant and average fuel consumption as well as the time.

The two WRX STI models also boast keyless Start and Smart access, with a touch sensor system behind the handle. The receiver recognises the presence of the transmitter as far away as 800 mm, and the lightest of grips on the handle unlocks the door – which means it’s possible to unlock and open in one single motion.  The same device communicates with the prominent Start button.
